"There is nothing more distracting than clutter. Decluttering is essential to creating a space where your mind can rest."

5 Tips for a Peaceful Bedroom

1. Declutter

First and foremost, DECLUTTER. Think about the feeling you have when you first walk into a hotel room. Everything is free and clear for your mind to rest.

I cannot stress enough how imperative it is to have a place free of what I like to call "debris of life." You know what I mean, mail, receipts, food, clothes, etc. Everything has a place and this rule extends to your bedroom.

2. Make up the bed

Letting this be the very first thing you do will get you off to a nice start of keeping your room free of clutter. It's been proven that those who make up their bed are more likely to have a successful day. When you start the day off with a positive accomplishment, you are motivated to do another. Try it!

3. Natural Light

It's amazing the effect natural light can have not only on your mood, but even germs and bacteria. Studies have shown that dorm rooms with natural sunlight and fresh air had less students sick and missing from classes.

4. Comfortable Bedding

The fluffy down pillows, the warm comforter, and the body forming mattress all contribute to a peaceful setting. If you can't get your bedding all at one time just do a little purchase at a time. When you see how much of a difference it makes, you'll want to finish!

5. Seating Area

Reading a book, drinking coffee, putting your shoes on are more enjoyable when you have a comfy chair to do it in. It doesn't have to be anything elaborate, a simple chair will do. This setting will also give you an area to unwind before going to bed which contributes to the peaceful atmosphere.
